After a short stop in Toronto to visit my sister, my friends and I decided to drive all the way up to the Bruce Peninsula. It’s located approximately 8 hours from Montréal, but only 4 hours from Toronto. This place is a complete change of scenery where you can disconnect from reality. It’s a little piece of heaven on earth, and I highly suggest visiting it!

What you do not want to miss while you’re there:

1.       Go Camping

You should definitely rent a campsite. It’s the most authentic way to explore the peninsula. The little town of Tobermory is probably where you'll want to stay in order to be close to all the gorgeous sights. My friends and I camped at Tobermory Village Campground.  

2.       Explore the Beaches

There are a few beaches here and there all around the Bruce Peninsula National Park. Most of them are pebble beaches, but we managed to find one sandy beach. If you really want to see a long sandy beach, I would suggest stopping by Sauble Beach on your way there (approximately 1 hour before the Bruce).

3.       Hike to the Grotto

There is a really beautiful grotto in the park, but I’ve got to warn you that it is a very touristic spot. There is a big cave on the shore and the water is crystal clear! I suggest going there early in the morning or later in the afternoon.  The price for the parking is $11 and you will need to hike for 30 minutes in order to get there!

4.       Take a Boat to Flowerpot Island

So far, I think this has been my favourite Canadian destination. I’ve been to some exotic places before, but I actually can’t believe that this one is located in Canada! In order to get there, you will need to book a boat cruise. You can choose to stay on the island all day if you want (you just have to arrange travel hours with the company). We personally went with Blue Heron Cruises. It’s a $45 round-trip, but it can get a little bit more expansive if you want to explore the shipwreck and some other things around the island.
